Follow these guidelines when completing each component of the Collaboration Café. Contact your course faculty if you have questions.

    • Describe three key features of the system that supported positive client or organizational outcomes.
    • Describe one concern with the system specific to the organization. Discuss the impact of the concern and how it can be addressed.
  1. Engagement in Meaningful Dialogue: Engage peers by asking questions, and offering new insights, applications, perspectives, information, or implications for practice:

One Electronic Health Record (EHR) system I have experience with is the Epic Systems Corporation used in our hospital settings. The three key features that support positive patient and organizational outcomes are comprehensive patient charting, interoperability, and clinical decision support (CDS) (EHR Guide, 2024). Epic’s detailed and integrated patient charting allows for comprehensive documentation and real-time access to up-to-date patient information, supporting informed clinical decision-making. This enhances care continuity, patient safety, and quality of care. The Epic EHR’s interoperability allows for seamless sharing of patient information among healthcare professionals and across diverse healthcare systems and organizations (Chishtie et al., 2023). This improves care coordination particularly for patients with multiple comorbidities that need multidisciplinary care (Price et al., 2022). Interoperability improves efficient resource use by reducing duplication of tests and procedures and ensures the delivery of continuous and well-coordinated care. The CDS feature offers healthcare providers current evidence-based guidelines, reminders, and alerts integrated into the workflow to facilitate accurate and timely clinical decision-making (Sutton et al., 2022).
